2 weeks

Sweet Judson Ray, you have been in our lives for 2 weeks!
It's so easy to forget what I did all day, every day before you.
I think I am OK with forgetting some, as I like this way of life very much.

You've had a busier week than last... I've been eager to get out and about.
we took some newborn pics of you and some family photos
My good friend Erin took them and did an awesome job and I am so eager to see them all
p.s. this is not one of hers... obvi

you hung out with your aunt Jamie, uncle Jake and cousin Beau and loved every bit of cuddling

you sweet 17-year old cousin John Luke baked us muffins and brought them over one morning
then we had a long talk about how you need to be just like him when you're 17

we went to visit your dad at his office for the first time
you were quite the hit
you also introduced his office to some baby poop

we ran quite a few errands and you were a champ

your cousin Sadie and her bff Anna Catherine came over for a bit and loved on you.
they're going to be your babysitters...if we can fit into their busy high school schedules

your Hunny and Pa started on their house!!!
concrete means business people

each night this week sweet friends from church brought us a meal.
these are women who have busy families and small kids of their own.
yet they carved time out to cook for us and bring it to our house.
you, my son, are a very loved and very blessed little guy
i also enjoyed getting to see my friends and chit-chat
(this chicken pot pie was made by Jil and ooooooh so good)

your Grammy came to visit and stayed the whole week!
and we loved it.
i got to take lots of naps and not worry about cleaning or anything.
she's the best.
and no one cried when she left (or everyone)

your dad is gone for a week on a work trip in Kansas
no one cried when he left either (and by no one, i mean i did)
we miss him something awful, but luckily we have lots of help while he's gone
he's getting at least one picture an hour of you so that he doesn't forget what you look like

you're rocking the nap nanny
and the faux-hawk

we almost finished your room
almost
I'm just not sure when you'll ever sleep in there
i might have a problem kicking you out of my room

a more complete post about the new rooms to come

At week 2 you are still the sweetest baby
you are very easy to soothe and i hope and pray that is your personality!!!!
you are becoming a bit more partial to your mommy
you whimper like a puppy dog when you're going to sleep
you are a lot more alert during the day
you're starting to learn that night time is for sleeping (still working on that one)
you're a little cuddler
you wear newborn clothes, but are outgrowing 0-3 month socks with your big ole feet
oh yeah! you received your social security card and your birth certificate! you're a real person!

we love and adore every second with you Judson Ray

Wordless Wednesday: meeting JR

I was going to share our birth story, but it ended up going a bit differently than I had imagined (i'm sure that's true for everyone).
It wasn't the most pleasant experience and I had a bit of a rough time.
The good thing is...Judson Ray is here!
and that's the part I want to remember.

So, since pictures do the best talking and I have a lot of them, here they are.
Enjoy meeting our little man and seeing our stay in the hospital . We had to stay a tad bit longer than we had planned due to my complications and little JR had to stay 24 hours under the bili-light for some jaundice.

No matter what labor, delivery and post-partum was like for me, we have a perfect baby boy and I would do it all over again. Us women are crazy like that.

Voted!

We Voted!
not sure what this picture has to do with voting, but it felt very appropriate

Thankful for the freedom to vote for our leaders.
Praying for Godly leadership that our country was founded on.

No matter the outcome...as for me and my house, we WILL serve the Lord

a great surprise!

Friday night, we had just started a movie and were just enjoying an evening with our little family.
GT had asked me earlier in the day if I wanted to go out to eat.
hmmmmm..............
He could tell by my long pause and hesitation that it probably will be a few more weeks until I can leave the little guy. Oh well...he tried. love him.

All of a sudden I heard a little voice coming in our door.
Turn around and it's this guy!
I almost cried.

We were so surprised to see Beau, Jake and Jamie and sooooo happy!
Since they moved to Tyler, Tx a few months ago, we get to see them more often..
BUT, it's still not enough.

Beau taught GT how to play the "get nuts" game. It's a squirrel game...don't worry.

Jamie didn't get a chance to hold Judson last weekend because she had to go back to work (she's a stud MD at an urgent care clinic on weekends).
So, she (at 35 weeks pregnant with my nephew Luke) made the decision to drive over and love on our little guy.

little Luke provided a great prop

Beau is adjusting to another grand kid and I think he is doing pretty great.
Last weekend we asked him if he wanted to give Judson a kiss. He just said "no thanks".
So, this cuddling is major progress.

isn't he the prettiest?

i'm very thankful we have a good little sleeper

cashed out

his dads hands are bigger than his little torso

whoa! lets not get crazy

can't wait for Luke to join this mix

but really, he wanted to play "phone game" with Pa

I'm so thankful J,J & B live closer now and can surprise me on a Friday night!
It was a perfect weekend of relaxing and cuddling with my two favorite little guys.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend,
Kate

Around the house: sibling work day

A few weekends ago, Jake and Jamie came in town just to help us make some progress on the house.

This is what you get when you mix two pregnant gals with some furniture re-makes

and a husband who has painted more than he ever dreamed he could paint

and a brother who gets more paint on his shirt than the wall, but is an incredibly hard worker

you get a lot of silliness
we love being together and really do love helping each other out....luck-i-leee

looking into the nursery

When we first moved into the house, I found lots of interesting things in the barn.
I have refinished quite a few and integrated them into our house

There was this one thingy that I was just dying to do something with, I just wasn't sure what it was
some kind of work bench/saw horse thing

Anywhoooo....Jamie helped me tackle it with a sander and I just love it!!!
i know. we're lovely

I now use it in our room to store our pillows and comforter when the bed isn't made

Perfecto!

We also redid the Rast dressers from Ikea
a little stain, white paint and cute knobs from Hobby Lobby and
wabam!

love em!

I'm so thankful for awesome bro and sis in law that like to help a sista out.
and they're really good at it.

Next to come...the completed addition to our house!
It's decorated and it feels so good.

Happy weekend folks!
