Wordless Wednesday: Home

I know alot of people don't care for pop music, but tend to lean to more indie tunes.
Me, I'm not so much a pop music fan, but like any music as long as it is good. Any genre, really.
Makes me feel something, has good harmony, good lyrics, good tone...you know.
Good music.

Well, as "popp-y" as American Idol is...I LOVED Phillip Phillips performance of Home.
This song is my current favorite.
It makes me feel something, has good harmony, good lyrics, great use of instruments, great overall tone.

I bought it and have listened to it repeatedly and will continue to do so.

Here's to finding a favorite song of the week!
Happy Wednesday friends,
Kate

Happy Memorial Day

I've never known what it is to work completely for someone else.
Knowing I could die.
Honestly...i'm not sure that I could.
Or let my husband do that.

I am humbled that there are men and women who do that for me and my country.
I'm thankful to those who have lost their life and those who have lost family members.

I'm truly thankful for these men

Revealing the gender

We weren't planning on having a gender reveal party...as is the trend these days.
We just wanted to tell our sibs and parents at the same time.
That was a problem. Only my parents live by us.
So, we utilized our ever evolving technology and made it work.
We got a DVD of the ultrasound from that morning and decided to just show the fam and let them see for themselves!
But, of course...
when we walked into mom and dad's house, my mom had set up a party!
She throws a party for any and every occasion and i kind of like it.
There's no way she was letting this occasion pass with out celebration!

Pretty sure this is when they saw the goods....you know what i mean?

just a phone call: Jake
side note: Jake is on a military ship with his other brother-in-laws this week...how cool is that??? One of his bro-in-laws is in the Navy and got to invite 2 people to join them on their ship (i think that's how it went down). What a super awesome experience!

next, we called GTs fam

ipad face time: Ty and Chelsea

Thanks for the ridiculous faces fam...you never disappoint.
That's a lot of electronic devices folks.

It was so much fun sharing the video with everyone and hear their reactions.
Redundant statement warning!: we are blessed.
Blessed by family who shares in our joy!

Happy Memorial Day weekend friends!!!
Ready for some rest.
Working four 12 hour shifts this week and going to school and growing a kid makes me tired.
Yes, that is what complaining looks like.
I do it to myself, though.
Our dishwasher has only bowls and spoons in it.
you know what that means?
it was a cereal for supper kind of week.
sooooo thankful my man actually likes that option.
he's a keeper.

I hope everyone gets to rest up!

Bring on the shaving kits

We're adding more testosterone to our house! I actually knew we were having a boy...the ultrasound just confirmed it. GT and I are so thankful our little guy is healthy and growing!

Sunday Portrait series: a thanks and a guess

Thank you everyone for the sweet comments about our bebe!
We are overjoyed and recognize what a wonderful blessing this child is.
We were aiming for a late summer baby, but you know...we have little control over these things.
God's timing is perfect and I praise Him for His sovereignty and wisdom.
There are so many people that yearn for a baby for waaaaaay longer than we did...months and years!
So, we rejoice in His timing and His blessings.

I don't care how many babies are conceived or born each day.
Babies are a miracle.
God's design never ceases to amaze me.
A human is growing inside of my uterus...hello! (and will come out...hello!)
This is not by accident.
God speaks of knowing Jeremiah before he was even conceived in Jeremiah 1:5
"Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for your: A prophet to the nations- that's what I had in mind for you".

I also understand that we are not the first people to have a baby.
Therefore, I will not act so.
But guess what?
It is our first and I will act accordingly (making no apologies).

Truly, I feel the love from all of you, our friends and our family.
It's quite humbling to receive such an outpouring of love and to know that others genuinely share in our joy.

We find out if our little huckleberry is a boy or girl this Wednesday.

Eeeek!
I'll share a little secret...i think it's a boy.
I guess I have a 50/50 chance, huh?
All guessing will be put to rest Wednesday morning and we are pumped!

Thanks again for sharing in our excitement and joy!
We are blessed beyond measure.

With an oink, moo and cock-a-doodle-do...

...Beau turned 2!

We had so much fun celebrating Beau's 2nd birthday at Deanna Rose Farmstead in KC.
He was hilarious, per usual.
There was a petting zoo and playgrounds and ice cream and whatever else a 2 year old desires.
I love this little guy and wish so badly that he stayed a little guy forever.
But, if his last 2 years are any indication of the fun we are to have...bring it on.
He is an absolute joy and I have no clue what we talked about before him.
He has one million faces to express his one million emotions and keeps me smiling.
We love you to pieces Beau!!!
I simply adore you and am so thankful I get to be your aunt Kate.

What's up Doc?

Let me introduce you to Dr.Jacob T. Kirby, D.D.S.

How bout them apples?

We made the trek to K.C last weekend to celebrate my bro.
He finished dental school and we though it an appropriate occasion to throw a party!
I'm so proud of him. Dental school ain't for sissies.
He was pretty shocked to see his new grill his awesome lady bought for him

The men had to do the man thing and turn nobs and whatever else they do

I kinda love these guys

Jake and Jamies backyard is pretty perfect for a party

I'm also rather partial to these two

Jamie is ridiculously talented and made the cutest signs.

Beau loved being with his cousins at the kid table

another cute sign by Jamie

I'm so glad that they are moving to Tyler, but will miss this house.
They have truly made it a wonderful home and I adore it's Kansas City character and charm

hilar

Whatya say Dr.J?

apparently he can now be responsible for my dental health...eh

looks like he's working on his first patient.
Beau somehow snuck in 3 pieces of cake.

Isn't their backyard perfect?

Well done sir

Mamaw Jo and Mamaw Lou wouldn't have missed Jakes graduation for the world
GT and I drove the 10 hours there and back with the mamaws
i would do it again tomorrow, and the next day
they make pretty good company

so, i looked at the wrong camera.
at least we got the whole gang, huh?

Congrats Dr.Jake
I look forward to many awkward conversations as you work on my mouth and ask me questions when you are aware that there is no way patients can answer you while you work on their mouths.
