Around the house: growing things

We have had the perfect spring for planting.
Things are just growing around these parts!
I didn't plant this huge oak...obvi.
But, i just love these old oaks on our property. Their shade is wonderful

the hibiscus are beautiful this year

another pot by the front door holds an assortment of geraniums, begonias, dahlias and lilies

we had no such thing as flower beds when we moved in. nada.
After my 1st trimester when i rejoined the land of the living, I accomplished the task of planting some.
One day, i just felt awesome again and felt like i could change the world (or at least our yard).
It's a sub-par job per landscaping standards, but it works for us.
I planted knock out roses next to the azaleas my in-laws gave me for Christmas.
I am eager to see them all in bloom and, of course, grow some.

hanging begonias and other annuals on the carport

dogs are growing, too
(what's a post without the pups, huh?)

we have four little blue birds in the birdhouse
A few weeks ago I noticed 4 cute little blue eggs.
Just checked 'em yesterday and they look about ready to spread their wings.
Pretty cool to watch the process

these rose bushes are unreal
thanks former home owner for planting them
i just keep 'em trimmed back and watered

My vegetable garden is coming right along
It's not so purty from the outside.
The deer and other critters loved my fall garden, so we had to come up with a better plan for protecting the garden. We had an old dog pen and although it's not aesthetically pleasing, it fits the bill and my garden has stayed deer free.  hooray!
bell peppers

Squash and Zucchini

back row tomatoes

We also have okra, cayenne pepper, cantaloupe, watermelon, cucumber and green onion.
Hopefully, over the next few months we will reap the reward and eat some delicious veggies!

Although i've probably busted our budget this year on plants, soil, mulch, etc...i've done all of the work myself.
Excpet for the tilling, of course. GT stopped me there.
So, someday when our flower beds are beautiful, our crepe myrtle is grown and our bellies are full...ill be satisfied.

Happy planting friends...and happy weekend!

Everything looks amazing! I so wish I had your green thumb. I should've taken advantage of that super human feeling you get in your second trimester and done some fall plantin'. Oh well!
